Milan, September 23, 2025 – Last night, on the day of the national strike in support of Palestine , La Scala in Milan joined the appeal of thousands of people across Italy to stop the massacre in Gaza . Its main dancer, Roberto Bolle , also spokesperson for this message. Last night, on the day of the strike, the ballet Trittico Lander / Kylián / Béjart was performed at the Piermarini. And at the end of the show, during the applause , dancers and stage crew took to the stage with several Palestinian flags, one held by Roberto Bolle, while the words " Stop Genocide" appeared in the background. All this to the applause of the audience. Bolle himself and the ANPI section of La Scala reposted the videos.

This isn't the first time La Scala has taken a stand on the situation in the Middle East. For example, in June, before the curtain call for the premiere of Siegfried, the opera featured the messages "Cease fire! Stop the war! And I cry out: peace! And I cry out: love!" (two invocations calling for a halt to the Israeli offensive and an equally evocative phrase from Verdi's opera Simon Boccanegra).

Piermarini's initiative came just days after the controversy sparked by the dismissal of the usher who shouted "Free Palestine" on the evening of May 4th while Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was taking her seat in the Royal Box to attend a concert organized by the Asian Development Bank and the Ministry of Economy.
